Active IQ Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Sports Development

Introduction

This advanced level programme in Sports Development provides a vocational pathway to gain a nationally recognised qualification at level 3 on the qualification credit framework (QCF). This qualification is aimed at those who are employed or volunteer in the sports, fitness and community sectors and have a role in encouraging and/or increasing the participation in sports. Ideally suited, although not limited to those working as a sport development officer, coach or sports educator.

The qualification follows two key roles in sport development, community based sport and sports education. You are required to complete 5 mandatory units and 3 optional units specific to your role.

We offer two routes, experienced worker route and learner development route. Experienced workers can undertake an initial skill scan to evaluate if they can undertake the measure of competence as a sport development practitioner from the outset. The learner development route involves a series of workshops to develop the underpinning knowledge of the qualification.

This qualification is part of a suite professionally recognised by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), which supports an individual’s personal and professional development within the industry.

During the assessment phase you will need to gather evidence and be observed in the workplace to demonstrate your competence and ability in performing your job role. You will be allocated a named assessor who will work with you on a one-to-one basis to guide and support you throughout the qualification.
